
The two private buses that collided at Royalpadu in Kolar district in Karnataka on Wednesday.
In a tragic incident, two persons were killed, and 40 others injured when two private buses collided on the Kolar-Bengaluru highway near Royalpadu in Kolar district of Karnataka, 20 km from here, in the early hours of Wednesday. Among the 40 injured, five are said to be critical condition.
According to sources, the two buses collided at high speed, while they were on their way to Kolar and Bengaluru respectively. The police from Royalpadu and Srinivasapur in Kolar district rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations.
The two deceased were shifted to the Government Hospital at Royalpadu for autopsy. Five of the critically injured were rushed to the Kolar Medical College Hospital in Kolar. Others who received moderate to grievous injuries were shifted to the government hospitals in Madanapalle in Andhra Pradesh and Srinivasapur in Karnataka.
Reacting to the mishap, State Transport Minister Mandipalle Ramprasad Reddy directed the medical officers at Madanapalle hospital to provide advanced trauma care to the injured persons and shift them to Bengaluru if necessary. A medical officer said that a total of 17 injured persons were brought to the hospital in Madanapalle. 12 of them were treated as outpatients, while five others were referred to Kolar and Bengaluru hospitals.
