
A goods train seen derailed near Gazulapalli railway station in Nandyal district on Sunday.
A goods train carrying cement load derailed at the outer signal of Gazulapalli railway station in Nandyal district on Sunday afternoon. The train was on its way to Guntur from Nandyal when the mishap occurred following the derailment of wagons in the middle. Rail traffic was disrupted due to this on the Nandyal-Giddalur section. The railway authorities diverted express trains through alternate routes.
Senior Railway officials from Guntakal rushed to the spot to assess the situation, and to restore traffic on a war-footing. Heavy cranes were deployed at the spot to haul the derailed wagons onto the tracks. Regular train traffic on the section was temporarily halted from afternoon. The officials are yet to ascertain the cause of the mishap.
