In the ‘90s, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat were the digital equivalent of choosing between a disciplined martial arts tournament and a bar fight with demons. Street Fighter had clean combos, honourable duels, and dudes yelling “Hadouken” like it was going out of style.
Mortal Kombat, on the other hand, handed you a fatality move list and basically said, “Go commit war crimes.” It was less about winning and more about how stylishly you could decapitate someone in 8-bit goodness.
I’m not alone in my nostalgia for those 8-bit fighting games, and AvatarUX wants to serve that market with its brand-newReel Warriors slot .
FIGHT!
The Reel Warriors slot from AvatarUX uses a 1024-ways-to-win system instead of traditional paylines. Betting starts at just $0.10, with a maximum limit of $10. If you’re betting at the upper limit, you could win up to $100,000, thanks to the 10,000x maximum multiplier. The slot has very high volatility, meaning wins can be rare but potentially significant. The RTP is 96%.
The slot features cascading reels, which replace symbols involved in winning combinations with new symbols, giving players another shot to win on the same spin. The Reel Warriors version of this feature is a little unique in that the new symbols don’t drop in from the top like in a version of Candy Crush. Instead, the reels spin again for just those positions.

All wins contribute to the Hit Collector located above the reels. Every two consecutive wins unlock a new reward, which is triggered after a spin ends and no further wins occur. Two consecutive hits unlock a Low Symbol Upgrade, transforming between one and six low symbols into their corresponding high symbols. Four consecutive hits trigger Board Expand, which adds one additional row in the base game or up to two extra rows during the free spins round. Six hits unlock Wild Throw, adding between one and three wilds to reels two, three, or four.
Eight consecutive hits in the base game unlock the Bonus Game, which activates a free spins round featuring Persistent Hit Collector Rewards. During the Bonus Game, the grid expansions gained from Board Expand remain in place. Once both additional rows have been added in free spins, the Board Expand reward is removed from the Hit Collector.

Instead of a standard Buy Bonus button, AvatarUX uses a feature called X-Press. In the Reel Warriors slot, X-Press allows you to pay a small additional fee per spin to improve the chances of unlocking bonus rewards during regular gameplay. The feature also includes traditional bonus buy options, as well as access to a Gamble Wheel, which can award up to nine free spins depending on the outcome.
Is the Reel Warriors slot up to the flight?
The Reel Warriors slot hits that 8-bit nostalgia button hard, and it mostly works. The theme is a fun throwback, but it’s the gameplay that makes this slot worth a second round. Those nostalgic elements don’t just sit in the background. They interact with the reels, which gives the theme significantly more depth than most slots manage to achieve. The large 10,000x max multiplier offers some real winning potential, but with very high volatility, don’t expect it to go easy on you. In the end, I would give the Reel Warriors slot a nine out of ten.
If you’re looking for some more nostalgic gaming goodness from AvatarUX, try Duck Hunt 500. Alternatively, if you’re looking for the best game they’ve ever released, in my opinion, then Donkey and The GOATS is the one.
